The Sunyani Divisional Police Commander, ACP Thomas Tindow has urged Sunyani Municipality to formed volunteer groups to assist the police in combating crimes.

The Sunyani Divisional Police Commander, ACP Thomas Tindow has suggested to communities within the Sunyani municipality to form volunteer groups otherwise known as 'watchdog' committees to help the police in combating crimes.

He is optimistic the move would help augment the work of the Ghana Police Service in fighting crime.

He added that the committee could be made of at least seven men who have no criminal records. These men according to him would be presented to the Police in training.

Speaking to the media, the Commander said, the work of the team which is to be formed by the leader of the community, would mostly be to patrol the community and volunteer information leading to the arrest of suspected criminals.

He was Commenting on the recent murder case involving a 28-year old Richard Appiah who is alleged to have killed 3 persons and stored some parts of their bodies in his refrigerator at Abesim-Alaska noting that, officers from the CID headquarters who have been deployed to the municipality to assist in investigating the case has commenced work.

ACP Thomas Tindow however urged the general public to be security cautious and report all suspicions of security threats to the police.
