The Dutch decently controlled the ball in the early stages of the game and looked to hit the ball in the spaces upfront. There was a big scramble in the Oranjes box in the 26-minute as a Belarus ball was whipped in. It went through Van Dijk's legs but fluffed once by the hosts and then a second time, Laptev shanked wide on the spin.

De Ligt hurts himself making a super block in the process but he was all fine to continue after some treatment.

Gini Wijnaldum grabbed the opener for the away side in the 32-minute. The Liverpool man rose between two white shirts to meet a perfectly weighted ball in from Promes from the right.

Gini scored a scorcher four minutes to end the second half. He trapped a Bergwijn pass, took a touch and fired from range into the top corner.

Belarus were given an insurance of hope after Dragun dragged a goal back in the 54-minute. It was a super ball in from Polyakov that Van Dijk looked sure to deal with against his diminutive opponent but the ball went over his head and Dragun had space to direct a powerful header past Cillessen.

The home side leaped enough pressure on the Oranjes for the leveler but a compact Dutch side kept them banned from clinching the equalizer. A double change was introduced for the Dutch- De Jong and De Roon came on for Promes and Van De Beek.

Gini almost completed his hat trick in the 79-minute to restore their two-goal advantage. The two goal-hero wriggled free in the box and played in Malen - but the 'keeper Gutor made a smart close-range stop.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of the Dutch.
