Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said he cannot keep waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo to return for preseason.

According to the former Ajax boss, he is planning for the start of the season with the rest of his squad.

Ronaldo has not shown up for pre-season after asking to leave United this summer.

The Red Devils kick off the 2022/2023 campaign at home to Brighton two weeks on Sunday and Ten Hag is focussing on the players at his disposal.

"It is the same as last week,” Ten Hag replied when asked about the situation with Ronaldo

“But concerning is maybe not the right word. I focus on the players who are there, they are doing well, and they are in good shape.

“I prefer to focus on that and develop that. I cannot wait for him to come in, then we will integrate him.”

The Red Devils are expected to let as many as 10 players leave the club this summer, as part of a wholesale clear-out.

Ronaldo has one year left on his current contract and there were speculations he would leave after the Red Devils failed to make the Champions League next season.

Ronaldo has scored over 20 goals in all competitions for Manchester United this season despite the team’s struggles.

If the former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar stay, it will mean the Portuguese won’t be playing Champions League football for the first time in more than a decade.
