Jose Mourinho has revealed what exactly he said to Pep Guardiola in an altercation on the touchline during the 2009/10 Champions League semi-finals.

Mourinho's Inter managed to hold on to their aggregate lead to reach the final in Madrid - which took place exactly 10 years ago this Friday - during a fiery second leg with Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

The most controversial moment of the match came midway through the first half when Thiago Motta was sent off for hitting out at Sergio Busquets.

"When Busquets fell down almost unconscious, I was directly between our bench, their bench, and the place where Thiago Motta was sent off," Mourinho recalled for La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the Barcelona bench celebrating as if they'd won.

"Guardiola called [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic over to speak about tactics: tactics in 11 versus 10...

"I simply said to him 'don't start the party, the game hasn't finished'."

Inter had to play the remainder of the match with 10 men, defending their 3-1 lead from the first leg.

Gerard Pique scored late on, but it wasn't enough for the hosts as Mourinho wheeled away in his now-famous celebration.

"You have to find solutions on the pitch," Mourinho said.

"This was the most marvelous win of my career.

"We didn't lose 1-0, we won 3-2 in epic circumstances."

Mourinho also revealed the rather ironic message Ibrahimovic had for him to explain why he needed to leave Inter the year before.

"He came into the dressing room and said to me 'I'm leaving, I have to win the Champions League'," Mourinho said.

"My Italian assistants were beside themselves as they thought that without him it would be impossible to win.

"His teammates didn't want to lose him either.

"I was also worried, but I ended up saying 'maybe you'll leave and we'll win'.

"Then I said to [Marco] Branca 'if he wants to go to Barcelona, we'll try to sign [Samuel] Eto'o.'

"He and [Diego] Milito could give something different to the team tactically."
