Lagos State residents on Monday, February 26, 2024, hit the streets to protest against the high level of hardship in the country.

Soireenews learnt that the ongoing protest was facilitated by a human rights group identified as the ‘Take It Back Movement’.

The protesters were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions which expressed their grievances, at the Ojuelegba Under Bridge area of the state.

The protesters, comprising men and women from various walks of life, are calling attention to the increasing cost of living, unemployment rates, and the overall hardship experienced by ordinary citizens.

The atmosphere under the bridge is charged with emotion as chants of "enough is enough" and "we need change" fill the air. Banners and placards held by the demonstrators bear messages demanding government action to alleviate the economic burdens on the populace.

In response to the gathering, security agents have been deployed to the scene to maintain peace and prevent any potential disruption of public order. Officers from the Nigeria Police Force are visible, stationed strategically around the perimeter of the protest area

This is coming hours to the planned mass protest scheduled for February 27 and 28 by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC.
