Due to phone communications, a musician was remanded after kicking his partner in the genitalia

According to reports, Benjamin Kobla Doamekpor quarreled with his partner of 23 years over phone calls and images.

When the victim sought to leave his house after spending a few days with him in Katamanso in the Greater Accra Region, according to the police, the accused did the offense.

The victim was in plaster of paris (POP), has a broken leg, and is currently experiencing genital pain.

Doamekpor entered a not guilty plea to the accusation of harm.

He is expected to reappear on October 30, 2023.

Counsel for Doamekpor prayed for bail, saying his client was not a flight risk and was ready to pay the medical bills of the victim.

Defence counsel urged the court to admit Doamekpor to bail because he had a fixed place of abode.

Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo opposed the grant of bail, saying the Police had difficulties in reaching out to the accused to attend court.

According to the prosecution, the Police made several calls before the accused could appear in court.

It said although the accused person was on police enquiry bail, the Police would need him to assist in investigations.

The court presided over by Mrs Sedinam Awo Balokah obliged the prosecution’s prayer and remanded Doamekpor into Police custody.

According to the prosecution's account of the case, the complainant is a businesswoman who lives in Labadi, and the accused is the boyfriend of the plaintiff's younger sister.

According to the prosecution, the complainant arrived at Adenta DOVVSU on October 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., and reported that the victim had traveled to see the accused at Amrahia.

According to the prosecution, the victim began calling the complaint in distress on October 1, 2023, alleging that the accused had battered her so severely that she was in grips with her right leg in POP after breaking it.

It said on receipt of the complaint, the Police together with the complainant proceeded to Amrahia where she led the Police to a house in Katamanso where the victim was seen in a room and clutches, confirming the earlier complaint by the complainant.

The prosecution said the victim was rescued and brought to Adenta DOVVSU and the victim was interviewed.

The prosecutor said the victim disclosed that she visited her boyfriend (the accused person) on September 25, 2023, and on September 27, 2023, she wanted to leave but the accused person prevented her from leaving.

It said Doamekper snatched her phone from her and went through her messages.

Prosecution told the court that Doamekpor saw a chat on the phone of the victim together with photos of the victim in bed with another man and that got him angry, and he assaulted her.

According to the prosecution, the victim said to the police that she had fallen and the accused had violently "stepped" on her right leg, breaking it, as well as kicked her in the genitalia.

The defendant allegedly brought the girl to Saint Patrick Hospital in Koforidua for treatment after noticing that she had a shattered leg and was unconscious.

According to the prosecution, the defendant instructed the victim to inform her family members that she had broken her leg after falling into a gutter.

After receiving a warning, the accused accepted his mistake but said he didn't intend to hurt the victim.
