Shatta Wale has weighed in on the ban placed on celebrities by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Gaming Commission of Ghana, hindering them from advertising alcoholic beverages and betting companies.

On the back of the FDA restricting celebrities from endorsing alcoholic beverages back in 2015, the Gaming comission proceeded to effectively stop all influential figures from endorsing betting companies this week.

According to the statement provided by the regulators, the bans were in adherence to a World Health Organisation policy. It also said the decision was part of efforts to protect children and prevent them from being lured into alcoholism.

Shatta Wale took to his live Facebook page to ask all the creative arts industry players to support him to compel the regulator to scrap the laws, banning them from advertising for betting companies and alcohol beverages.

“Those in the creative act industry should wake and stand against the ban of advertising for alcoholic drinks and sports betting. This is very sad but it will not affect me but rather other people in the industry,” he said.

“Actors, actress and anybody in the creative arts industry will lose a lot if this ban is not lifted. Ghanaian celebrities should wake up and talk against some laws of the FDA and the Gaming Commission.”

“We as a nation should change the way we do our things sometime, because it is not everything that will help us as we are going forward as individuals,” he added

This comes after Wendy Shay declared that she will be dragging the Gaming Commission of Ghana Food And Drugs Authority(FDA) to the Human Rights Court.

According to her, these regulators are only looking for ways to limit the sources of income of artists.

“GH Celebs, can we put our differences aside and fight the system ?? I guess we don’t know how powerful we are … Well, I’m taking the FDA and Gaming commission to the Human Rights Court Celebs are also Ghanaians and deserve better !! Ghana wake up !!” She wrote.

The Rufftown Records signee had earlier appealed to President Nana AddoDanquah Akufo- Addo on her Twitter page as she echoed the sentiments of her manager, Bullet, who had earlier condemned the government over the rumors of the potential ban.

"Dear @NAkufoAddo 1st, FDA stopped celebs from promoting alcoholic bev's making us lose jobs to Nigerian celebrities
Gaming commission just stopped us from promoting betting serv. So how do we survive as creative persons in this pandemic#Savethecreativearts#bringbackourjobs" she had written.

Ghanaian celebrities are now set to go to battle over the unfavourable conditions laced on them by the government.
