Dormaa West DCE Accuses NDC MP–Of Diverting Streetlight Bulbs Meant For The Constituents
DISTRICT CHIEF Executive of Dormaa West District of the Bono Region, Mr. Kojo Oppong Francis, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Honourable Vincent Oppong Asamoah of hijacking or diverting streetlight bulbs given to the legislator for inwards distribution to the various electoral areas within the district.

According to the DCE, the streetlight bulbs were received from the Ministry of Energy by the MP and him and that he (DCE) has managed to give out the ones he received to the various Assembly members to fix in the electoral areas to argument human security in their areas.

He alleged that the MP has diverted the bulbs  meant for the district for his personal use, which situation he said has amounted to complete steeling and corruption.
The DCE dared the MP to 'show "us which of the community he has fixed the bulbs he was given by the Ministry of Energy."
He indicated that it is shocking to know that the bulbs being donated by the Ministry of Energy through the MP to the constituents don't belong to him [Honourable Vincent Oppong Asamoah] and he never contributed a penny to the procurement of the bulbs but rather from the taxpayers.

Mr Francis disclosed this in an interview with the Soireesnews.com.
This was in response to the viral media report attributed to some residents perceived to be supporters and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Dormaa West that the DCE is non-performing.
In this regard, the residents requested President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to relieve him from his current post.
They accused the current DCE of abandoning social intervention projects left out from his predecessor in his own government.

The abandoned projects are uncompleted Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) at Awiakrom, abandoned six class units block at Kwadwo Kumikrom, abandoned ten seater toilets facilities at Diabaa, Krakrom and his own native town Yaakrom, abandoned heaped refuse dump and deplorable roads, an allegation DCE denies.
The DCE, since assuming office under his ‘Let’s Make Dormaa West District work campaign, has undertaken several initiatives to provide lasting solutions to everyday challenges in the district, with the view to transform the district, adding that he is working diligently in completing almost all abandoned projects started by his predecessor.
However, Honourable Asamoah has incurred the wrath of Mr Francis, accused him for hiring the the services of the supporters of the NDC to attack his integrity.
According to the DCE, he looks ridiculous on air when these people of the MP used his pro NDC radio station, Nkoromma FM to make numerous unguided and foul remarks statement against him without provocation.
He indicated that the Nkoromma FM station belongs to the NDC MP, saying that he and his followers are engineering the attacks on his personal.
He asserted that some of the people whose the station interviewed are known NDC executives of the Dormaa West Constituency.
"I know a lot of them because the current MP recently on air accusing me that l am blocking his monumental projects which are far from the true.
"And l responded by asking him that, the Ministry of Energy has given you the MP streetlight bulbs since early last year which he didn't bring even one bulks to the constituency. And when the MP verbally attacked me and asked him where are the bulbs that the Ministry has gave him. But the MP has not provided an answer to my question.
"Recently, the people in the constituency are crying for insecurities because the streetlight bulbs were faulty. When the Ministry of Energy gave the MP bulbs, the same  streetlight bulbs were given to me for which l have shared my own with the various assembly members to fix them at the vantage points to improve security situation within the constituency.
"About one year down the line, some of the street lights within the district are off so the residents came to request some of the streetlight bulbs again.
"Then the MP told me that it is my responsibility to provide the street light bulbs and then l asked the MP, l gave my share of the streetlight bulbs to all my assembly members in the ten electoral areas which they have all justified.
"I told the MP that he too has gotten the streetlight bulbs so where did he sent his bulbs to. I dare the MP to show me one of the community that he has fixed one of the streetlight bulb there.
He stated that when the Nkrankwanta township streetlight bulbs were off the residents were on him to expedite actions to fix the situation in order to address security problem in the district.
"I went to procured thirty (30) streetlight bulbs and l fixed them to improve the lighting system in the Nkrankwanta township.
Currently l have bought some sets of the streetlight bulbs which l  am yet to be distributed to the various electoral areas within the district.
"So all what they are saying against me that l am non performing DCE or not ready to continue the  abandoned projects are not true. For me l have been discharging my roles effectively to serve the supreme interest of everybody in the area," the DCE stressed.
According to him, there are a lot of social and infrastructure intervention projects which are in the pipelines which he is focusing on doing it since l assumed office."
He disclosed that he has improved the health infrastructure development in the district, saying that his outfit has built Emergency Unit of the Dormaa West District Hospital which can now accommodate more people.
Mr Francis stressed that his track record and achievement in provision of many social amenities in the areas of safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), health, education, roads, security, sports, social welfare services among others so far after two years of his assumption office showed that he has performed satisfactorily in his roles.
He noted that he has worked tremendously to provide support to the teeming farmers in the district, having realized that 80% of the people in the district are predominantly farmers.
"My outfit has provided numerous supports
to the farmers in my area of jurisdiction by way of giving them coconut and hybrid cocoa seedlings, fertilizers, farming equipment to supplement his outfit efforts to boast their farming activities in the district," Mr Francis disclosed.
According to the DCE, the projects his outfit has executed so far within the district were visible in their implementation communities in the ten electoral areas and dared his accusers to go there and see themselves.
