Members of the National Concerned Drivers Association and True Drivers Union have called on all drivers’ unions and associations to help resist any form of road toll increment.

According to the Union, they have been hinted that the central government is likely to increase the prices of road tolls to about 70 percent.

"As drivers, we have been paying the road tolls for years yet no developments on our roads especially on our highways, not to talk about the rural and urban roads,” the Union made the call in the statement issued today and copied to Soireenews.com

NATIONAL CONCERNED DRIVERS ASSOCIATION AND TRUE DRIVERS UNION FUEL PRICES HIKED 20% LORRY FARES INCREMENT COMING

Date 18/03/2021

If it Will be recalled, we together with our mother body the GPRTU in consultations with our major stakeholders (Market) issued a statement suspending the increment of lorry fares which was scheduled for the mid-last month.

Now fuel consumers are again set to pay more at the pump as some major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have further increased their prices.

The fuel increment is also coupled with an increment in the prices of spare parts and other lubricants.

With this situation, we have in consultations with all other driving unions and associations decide to increase the prices of fares coming Thursday 18/03/2021.

We asking our stakeholders to bear with us and comply with this decision to enable us to serve them better.

We have been hinted that the government is likely to increase the prices of road tolls to about 70 %.

As drivers, we have been paying the road tolls for years yet no developments on our roads especially on our highways, not to talk about the rural and urban roads.

We, therefore, call on all driver’s unions and associations to help resist any form of road toll increment.
