Legendary Ghanaian TV goddess, Maame Dokono has admonished all entertainers (Artistes, Actors, Comedians e.t.c) in Ghana to stay away from engaging in party politics in the upcoming elections for their own benefit.

Speaking from experience, she highlighted the dangers of taking sides in elections, especially to entertainers in the long run. She explained that supporting one political party to the detriment of another does more damage to the careers of entertainers than it does good.

According to her, the benefits might only be short term, but the damage will be forever. Maame Dokono appealed to all entertainers during an interview on Hitz FM’s, Daybreak Hitz Show. She stressed that no serious entertainer should think of taking sides in the election.

“If the party you join loses, you will lose everything and then you will be sidelined by producers in the movie fraternity, and if you are in the movie industry, those doing movies will not use you because they will say people will not buy their product; they will avoid you.

"They will say your time has passed. I think the money you will get from them is only when you are campaigning. I will advise young ones to be very careful and remain neutral. I did experience that. It’s just recently that they started using me,”

She concluded by saying that showing public support for a party is shooting oneself in the foot as an entertainer.
