Disregard of GUTA Directives To Close Down Shops

National Concerned Spare Part Dealers Association (NCSDA) has called on the owners of the shops to shun the directives of the Ghana Union Of Traders Association (GUTA) that all shops are to be closed on 29th August, 2022 to register their displeasure to the government in relation to the current economic mismanagement.

In that report,  the GUTA noted that the depreciation of the cedi has eroded the capital of its members.

The GUTA asserted that A dollar is currently trading at 10cedis, inflation is at 32% and the policy rate is currently at 22%, monetary policy rate 22%, commercial lending rate is over 35%, VAT and standard rate of 19.25% instead of flat rate of 4%.

But in a quick rebuttal, the Chairman of the Concerned Spare Part Dealers Association, Mr Kwabena Agyei entreated all its members and other traders not to pay attention to GUTA but rather should step out and open their shops.

Addressing journalists in. Accra yesterday, Mr Agyei noted that this is not the right time for shops to be closed, rather the government needs to provide a swift solution to the collapsing economy.

He posited that the economy is harsh, some of our members do not have their daily bread if they don't go to their shops, not to mention the table top sellers.

"The reality is we can't just close our shops stay home and starve just because the government have failed and we suggest they consider consulting the previous administration.

"We again calling all meaningful Ghanaians, shop owners, traders and table top dealers to operate fully coming Monday 29th AUGUST, 2022," Mr Agyei stressed.
