Soireenews can report of looming danger in Banda-Buya in the Krachi Nchumuru District in the Oti Region if authorities do not intervene the decision made by some residents to drink from contaminated streams and rivers in the area.

Investigations showed that for the past three weeks, residents had been fetching water from unsafe streams and rivers due to the lack of potable water in the area.

The situation, according to the elders of the area, was as a result of the failure of successive governments to provide the community with sources of good drinking water.

The worrying situation, they explained, has heightened anxiety in the various communities within the district.

When Soireenews made contact to verify the current situation, they observed that residents of Banda-Buya in the Krachi Nchumuru District in the Oti Region are currently suffering from water crisis.

A woman told Kano FM that, it takes the community most especially the women three to four hours to Wiae, a suburb in the Region before getting a gallon of water for their domestic chores almost every day.

The community which has a population size of over four thousand people, have to depend on two functioning boreholes to quench their thirsty.

"Sometimes, we have to contact motor King drivers to go a long distance to get us water for a fee," she said.

Some said they have to wake up early dawn to search for water.
