COVID-19: Finance Ministry Directs Staff to Work from Home after Tests

Employees of Ghana’s Finance Ministry will be working from home following their Covid-19 tests.

The directive comes at the back of fears that some employees might have contracted the disease.

Though tests results are yet to be made known, an internal memo from the Ministry indicated that staff who test positive for the virus will be duly informed, “and will receive the necessary care from appropriate health authorities designated by the Minister of Health.”

It added that contact tracing will be immediately undertaken in circumstances where an employee tests positive, to curtail the spread of the disease.

Some staff members will however be assigned “approved locations” to work in order to complete the Mid-Year Review of the budget.

The Memo noted that, staff will be informed about the appropriate date to return to their offices.

Meanwhile, the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has closed down its head office at Dzorwulu, Accra, after some of its staff tested positive for the Coronavirus disease.

The temporal closure which takes effect from Monday, July 6 to Monday, July 13, 2020, is to enable the company fumigate its premises.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) will close down its head office in Accra for fumigation exercise.

This has became necessary after some staff tested positive for Covid-19 following a mass testing exercise.
