Covid-19: An African Vaccine and Treatment Still Possible – Ablakwa

Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Okudzeto Ablakwa says the idea that Africa might come up with the appropriate vaccines to save the world from the scourge of Covid-19 is not farfetched.

“A belief that an African Treatment and an African Vaccine for Covid-19 is possible” he tweeted in celebration of Africa Day 2020.

The MP had earlier urged Africans to rally in support of the famous herbal medicine purported to be used in treating Covid-19 patients in Madagascar.

He mentioned that “the prejudice against anything from Africa must be boldly confronted”.

Okudzeto also expressed hope in African economies becoming buoyant post-pandemic, when the Free Trade Agreement is realised.

“A belief that an African economic Transformation far beyond a mere post Covid-19 recovery anchored on the realisation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement and AU Agenda 2063 is possible” he said.

He asserted that with “selfless leadership and true commitment” a utopian Africa can be achieved.

Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (now known as the African Union) on this day, 25 May, in 1963. It aims to celebrate African unity.
