Mepe Grassroots Network (MGN), the newly-formed youth network advocating development for Mepe Traditional Area in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region has announced plans to launch its existence, with a call on all the citizens of Mepe to return home this year to rekindle the historic, cultural, political and spiritual bonding of Mepe.

Mepe Grassroots Network (MGN), the
newly-formed youth network advocating development for Mepe Traditional Area in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region has announced plans to launch its existence, with a call on all the citizens of Mepe to return home this year to rekindle the historic, cultural, political, and spiritual bonding of Mepe.
The first-ever homecoming ceremony which was slated to take off from Friday, May 20, 2022, to Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Mepe, was under the theme; "Revisiting Our Cultural Heritage For Development."
The homecoming is a prestigious fun-filled cultural event loaded with interesting 
activities aimed at bringing all the youths from the Mepe Traditional Area, North Tongu as a whole, and beyond to a unique platform to share or learn progressive cultural values, norms, and ideas in an atmosphere of fun, merry-making, and dancing.
The occasion also would be used to forge closer ties towards peaceful coexistence, unity, tolerance, hard work, a deep sense of belonging and understanding, and cooperation among others for communal progress and development.
The major activities to mark traditional this event which would be celebrated every year include cultural dance and drumming Competitions, Sporting Activities, Street Carnival, and Live bands.
This mega event certainly promises to attract over 4000 fun-seekers and revelers from home and beyond who shall be in attendance either as spectators or competitors in the above-stated activities.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the leadership of the Network led by the former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Mepe Development Association (MDA), Mr. Shabanton Moses K. Dutsrogbe called on the corporate institutions, non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and individual organizations to endeavor to come on the board and sponsor the Mepe Homecoming event.
Despite some of the developmental challenges confronting the people of Mepe, the leadership of the Network stated that the area was noted for its rich traditional culture and beautiful tourist.
According to the leadership of the network, the Apenorto Festival (also known as Afenorto) is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Mepe in the North Tongu District in the Volta Region.
Following this development, they indicated that they need immediate sponsorship packages from the corporate institutions to enable them to effectively carry out this homecoming event.
 
The Mepe homecoming, they assured has come to stay which would serve as a viable platform to bring together indigenes of Mepe and visitors from all over the world to celebrate and showcase the historical and traditional culture of Mepe.
