Consider Footsoldiers  In Your Appointments Too  -NPP Re-Elected Chairman For Dormaa West Appeals To Akufo-Addo
The re-elected New Patriotic Party Chairman for Dormaa West Constituency in the Bono Region, Mr Kwame Owusu
The re-elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Dormaa West Constituency in the Bono Region, Mr. Kwame Owusu, has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider appointing him and some hardworking foot-soldiers from the constituency to serve in his government due to their enormous contribution to the electoral fortunes of the NPP.
According to Mr. Owusu, although he has a low level of education, he believes that it is the time for President Akufo-Addo to seriously consider him and some influential and hardworking party faithfuls and footsoldiers from the constituency for appointment to serve in his government.
Mr. Owusu who is a farmer insisted that, even though the NPP parliamentary candidate could not win the seat in the 2020 general elections, the votes garnered were substantial enough to attract appointments to encourage the grassroots members of the NPP in the area to continue to fight for the party.

He stressed that he would ensure that the current NPP government increase the percentage of NPP in Dormaa West to win the seat from the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) in the 2024 showdown and called on the members of the party to endeavor to elect the parliamentary candidate who is selfless personality.

The Dormaa West Constituency Chairman believes that the constituency has been neglected over the years and that he (Kwame Owusu) and other notable personalities should be given appointments to encourage the teeming youth of the party.
He noted that the figures obtained by NPP in Dormaa West every election year from both presidential and parliamentary are considered significant and more encouraging than many other constituencies that have representatives in Parliament.
Mr. Owusu stated; “For this reason, there is the need to pay much attention to the constituency going forward and device measures to garner more votes for the party despite the difficulty in winning the seat.
He observed that it was needful that constituency members were considered for an appointment because very few people in Dormaa had made it financially and that put a lot of pressure on such persons, therefore, if more persons from the constituency were considered for appointment, it would help open up the constituency and bring help to the people of Dormaa.

He also indicated that such appointments had the potential to trigger development since the appointees would be mindful of championing developments in the constituency.

He noted that “The statistics outlined so far depict that the NDC has won the seat severally, however, we are of the view that if attention is given to the constituency in terms of resources and adequate preparation and support, there could be a turning point in the 2024 general elections."

According to him, all of this is possible if the appointing authority would consider a promising constituency that adds value to the presidential votes.
He pointed out that, NPP won the 2020 general elections due to the sacrifices and hard work of party footsoldiers in Dormaa and therefore it is only befitting that certain key members from the constituency's grassroots politics are given appointments in government.
Mr. Owusu made these statements in an interview with Soireenews.com after he was re-elected as the Chairman of the NPP in Dormaa West in the party's constituency executives election held on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Giving his victory speech, Mr. Owusu expressed gratitude to the delegates and members of the NPP in the area for reposing confidence in him to re-elect him as the chairman to continue to manage the affairs of the party.
He reiterated his assurance to make efforts for the NPP to win the parliamentary seat from the incumbent National Democratic Member of Parliament in the 2024 general elections.
He said although the voting margin he got to win the NPP championship position in the area is not huge as compared to the one in the previous constituency executives' election, at the end of the contest, he finally won the race.
He pointed out that the delegates voted for him to win the contest because of his hard work which has contributed to the building of the structure of the party in the area.
According to him, he got 166 out of the total of 319 delegates including the DCE who have cast their votes in the constituency executives' election.
Mr. Owusu noted that his closest constat, Mr. Aliu Musah got 152 votes with fourteen (14) votes to win the contest because some elements of the party in the area have stood against him but God so be good he was able to win.
"These elements within the NPP in the area have worked against me but they have not succeeded but at the end of the day the delegates of the great NPP have finally spoken and that l think that my winning is like the NPP has won," he stressed.
Mr. Owusu mentioned that "l give thanks to the delegates who voted  for me to win the contest and that all and sundry must unite to have the united front to win the 2024 general elections."
He complained bitterly about the massive votes buying practices exhibited by the financiers of his main contestant but with the protection and guidance of Almighty God, he was able to win the contest.
He lamented that he lacked education because he has stopped school in form two.
This, he bemoaned, has affected him from getting any appointment from the government although he is the chairman of the area.
But he was quick to state that he has not lobbied for the appointment in the government since he has a low educational background.
He detailed that those who rather served under him had gotten an advantage to be appointed to the position of District Chief Executives (DCEs) because they are educated.
He further lamented that "like l have finished school l would not have been where am l now so l don't have money to be given to delegates to influence them to vote for me."
But l can say that l win the contest by his efforts and the trust some delegates have in him," he noted.
"I would like to state that non of the constituency chairman in the NPP across the country indeed work harder than me, but l am poor because of my low level of education. This has affected me in getting an appointment with the government.
"But what l want to say is that the NPP interest first. Because there is the party spirit in me that is why although l am not financially sound l am still suffering for the party in the area and that whatever things that l do l think of the party interest first," he said.
He added that "so my victory clearly shows that the delegates who voted for me have liked me."
He called for unity within the ranks and files of the party to break the 8 agenda of the NPP, stressing that "if we cannot work hard to break the eight then we have to forget winning the political power for the 2024 general elections."
