The Spanish government's coronavirus measures put in place will not favour Chelsea and the hosts, Atletico following a mandatory quarantine for 10-days if not a Spanish national or resident.

The UEFA Champions League fixture between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea at the Wanda Metropolitano will be shifted to another venue due to coronavirus restrictions, Marca has revealed.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were drawn against the Rojiblancos in the first leg of the 1/16 stage of the competition on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, and per Spanish government's extension of restrictions on inbound flights from the United Kingdom, as well as South Africa and Brazil, it puts the Blues trip to Spain in doubt to honour the game in Spain.

Belgium, France, Portugal and Germany have also imposed same measures and so teams within the grounds could be advised to search for a suitable venue.

Chelsea will have to undergo a ten-day quarantine if they are not Spanish nationals, a measure put in place by the government to curb the novel virus which has detected to be rampant in the aforementioned countries.

Diego Simeone’s men are searching for alternative venues and the Spanish news outlet have disclosed that Bucharest is the likeliest city to host the crunchy Champions League fixture between two of world’s biggest clubs.
