Boahen Korkor family rejects new Queen Mother  

The Boahen Korkor Royal Family of Sunyani has rejected Nana Akosua Dua Asor Brayie II as the Queen Mother for the traditional area.

Their discard, they say, has become necessary, claiming the new queen mother is not known as tradition demands. 

The Sunyani Traditional Council on the 2nd of August enstooled Nana Akosua Dua Asor Brayie II as the queen mother following the demise of Nana Yaa Nyamaa Puduo II, two years ago. 

The activity which saw Nana Akosua Dua Asor Brayie II escorted on some principal streets of Sunyani, according to the family was fraudulent and must be seen as such.

Addressing the media in a press conference today, Friday, August 6, 2021, at Sunyani, Mr Joseph Adjabeng Danquah said, the selection of the same was done solely by Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri without consulting the kingmakers. 

He added that President for the Sunyani Traditional Council, after failing to enstool the latter in June this year, sidelined the injunction secured by them for the event. Mr Adjabeng Danquah further revealed that there are three gates legitimate to ascend the throne, but the chief failed to recognize that and went ahead to make his choice. 

The Boahen Korkor Royal family have since said, they will not recognize Nana Duah Asor Brayie as their queen mother

Mr Adjabeng again added that their family is noted for peace and will not do anything contrary. He has however urged for calm as they wait for the court hearing.
