Bible Society of Ghana Launches Bono Bible

The Bible Society of Ghana on last Sunday, 25th July 2021, launched the new Bono Bible.

The ceremony took place at the Trinity Presbyterian Church at Techiman the capital of the Bono East region.

The all-new Bible has been written by the native dialect of the indigents of the erstwhile Bono Ahafo region with the aim of helping the natives to read and understand the holy scriptures with ease.

The launch was attended by representatives of the Bible Society of Ghana led by their General Secretary who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association, Rev. Dr Enoch Ayi-Attah, the Techiman Local Council of Churches, Nananom and the Christian fraternity at large.

Rev. Dr Enoch Ayi-Attah, says the Bible has been translated in almost all the major languages in the country hence the need to translate it in the Bono dialect.

According to him, the Bible is best understood when it's being read and taught in the native dialect of the congregation.

"Although we are yet to complete translating the New Testament into the Bono dialect, we have decided to unveil the Gospel according to St. Mark"

"This will help us to know some of the mistakes we have made in the dialect and correct them before the Bible is published by the end of the year," he said. 

The erstwhile Bono Ahafo Regional Manager of the Bible Society of Ghana, Thomas Gyedu, appealed to all and sundry, especially those in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East region to fully accept the Bono Bible when it's finally published. 

Leader of the team tasked to translate the Bible into the Bono dialect, Rev. Daniel Asoma Gyabaa, addressing the media revealed that, irrespective of the Language the Bible will be written in, it stills carries its spiritual benefits, but as the adage goes "if you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, it goes to his heart" hence the need to write the Bible in the Bono dialect.

He also used the occasion to urged all to accept and love the Bono Bible as their own and study it with all seriousness.
