Portuguese head coach, Fernando Santos has spotted some weaknesses in Belgium’s team setup on the field of play.

Santos praised Belgium but said the team also struggled, especially in the come-from-behind win over Denmark when the top-ranked FIFA team was held to only six attempts.

“I’m not going to talk about their weaknesses now because I don’t want them to know what I’m thinking,”

“But there are things we can explore. The game against Denmark showed some of their weaknesses.”

“Belgium has a lot of strengths, especially the knowledge they have of each other for having been together for such a long time,”

“Everything flows naturally. They already know where everyone is without having to think about it.” Portugal’s coach Fernando Santos said.

Santos also added that the FIFA No. 1 team has the ability to use multiple formations which can pose a great threat for Portugal.

“They can go with a 3-4-3, or five in attack, or a 3-4-1-2,”

“It’s a team that likes to come out playing.”

The FIFA World’s no. 1 ranked team won all three of their group matches at the ongoing European Championship to set up a match against the defending champion Portugal in the knockout stage on Sunday.

Only Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands won all their group matches at Euro 2020.

The defending champion Portugal struggled to advance in the round of 16 with a win, a draw and a loss, but it was in a much more difficult group that included World Cup champion France, former World champion Germany and Hungary.

Santos concluded that though the Belgians are packed with stars playing for top clubs in Europe yet they have their own flaws and he is going to capitalize on that weakness to beat the FIFA No. 1 ranked team.
