Very Reverend Isaac Justice Arhin York disclosed, that the Methodist Church Ghana, has decided to focus more on teaching its members across the country to live like Jesus Christ in the ensuing year and beyond.

A new 400-seater capacity Chapel for worship has been dedicated for the Babile Methodist Society of the Lawra Circuit of the Methodist Church, Ghana.

The Babile Society, was adopted by the members of the Good Shepherd Methodist Church, Massachusetts, Worcester, USA, and led by Rev Dr. Thomas Ofori through the local members of the Babile society as well as other members in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Inaugurating the Chapel on Sunday, October 17, 2021, the Deputy Bishop of the Northern Ghana Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Very Reverend Isaac Justice Arhin York opined, the provision of a place for worship was in line with the objectives of the Methodist Church Ghana to evangelise to win more souls for the Kingdom of God.

He disclosed, that the Methodist Church Ghana, has decided to focus more on teaching its members across the country to live like Jesus Christ in the ensuing year and beyond.

Very Rev Isaac Justice Arhin York, commended the Good Shepherd Methodist Church, Massachusetts, for its immense contribution to the development and reconstruction of this edifice after the old building was raid down by a heavy storm over 10 years ago.

The Acting Superintendent Minister of the Lawra Circuit of the Methodist Church Ghana, and Minister-in-charge of the Emmanuel Methodist Society, Lawra,  Rev Daniel Nii Annang Shippie Quarshie, expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of the Babile Methodist Church to Naa Kaboe Vitus Dapilah and his wife for offering them land for the construction of this chapel to worship of God.

He extended his appreciation to the Good Shepard Methodist Church in Worcester, Massachusetts and prayed that the church grows to become a bigger society.

He opined, "I am blessed to have met this timely support from the Good Shepherd members and especially to Rev Dr and Mrs Ofori, for their selfless help to bring this beautiful chapel to the Glory of God, we are proud to have met you at the right time when all hope was lost and indeed God moves in a mysterious way.

" Not the chapel alone, but all the musical instruments in the chapel were donated by the Good Shepherd Methodist Church of Massachusetts, Worcester, USA aside that, they have also provided the Babile Society with 300 plastic chairs and other Chairs for the Clergy, he recounted.

History about the Babile Church 

The Acting Superintendent of Lawra Circuit narrated, "that the parcel of land was given to the church in the year 2004 by the family of chief of Babile, Naa Kaboe Vitus Dapilah".

The then Bishop of the Methodist Conference, Most. Rev Dr Aboagye Mensah and the then Bishop of the Northern Ghana Diocese, Rt. Rev A to Brown made efforts to construct a chapel for the Babile Society".

"However fortunately or unfortunately, that structure was raid off by a rainstorm and through this sad incident, the Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Massachusetts, Worcester came inn, expand it to this level that can accommodate over 400 congregations and the second biggest edifice after the Wa cathedral", he emphasized.

Members from the Northern Ghana Diocese, who were at the inauguration are the Synod Secretary Very Rev. Benjamin Amoako Baah, Deputy Bishop in charge of Wa/Bolgatanga Very Rev Isaac Justice Arhin York and Very Rev. James Musah Salia, as well as the Lay chairperson Elect for Wa/Bolga Sis Monica Osman.

The occasion was graced by the chief of Babile, Naa Kaboe Vitus Dapilah.
