Ashsiman Circuit Court remands driver, 25, for unlawful possession of fire arms

A-25-year old driver has been remanded into police custody for possession of fire arms without lawful authority.

The court presided over by His Honour, Simon Gaga, prior to remanding the accused remarked that it will not be prudent to grant the accused bail considering the nature of punishment on conviction therefore the accused is remanded into Police custody.

Prosecution is ordered to file witness statement before the next adjourned date. Prosecuting;ASP. Fuseini Sugri presenting the Inspector Badu Francis Adjetey's Investivative case said the accused, Ibrahim Abdul Samed, is a resident of Community 5, Tema.

He told the court that on the 20th June,2023 at about 3:00pm, the Tema Regional Police Command conducted a swoop at various criminal hideout in Tema to raid off the municipality of criminals.

During the operation,Inspector Sugri told the court the team arrested the accused at Community 5 and led police to his wooden kiosk within the vicinity where a foreign pistol with number CAL 9MM 644 and 6 live 9mm ammunition were retrieved.

He further told the court that investigation uncovered that the accused had no legal authority for possession of the weapon, as he failed to provide legal documents.

He was therefore arrested by police and after investigations, arraigned before this honourable court.
