“Without any doubts, Ghana is a beacon and a trailblazer of democracy in the African continent and indeed across the globe. Since 1992, we have enjoyed uninterrupted democratic processes and governance," she added.

Ghana will decide her next leader on Monday, December 7, 2020, through the polls and anxieties registered by the Ashanti Professionals signals chaos and disorder at some polling centres across the Region.

At a press briefing on Friday, December 4, 2020, Madam Lily Vesta Nyarko, a Convener for the group affirmed that information gathered from a survey has identified perpetrators raised to cause panic and chaos on election day, to prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional mandate.

“The information we have gathered is that these individuals and groups have trained hood lops armed with offensive weapons to cause violence and intimidate unsuspecting voters in Ashanti Region.

“We, therefore, wish to bring to the attention of security agents, traditional authorities and the religious bodies as matter of urgency to intervene in order to affect any possible commotion on the day of elections,” she added.

Mrs Vesta Nyarko emphasized that the good people of Ghana are abreast with good policies such as good educational system, availability of health facilities and maintaining peace to foster business hence the need for political parties to embrace the legal method of seeking for political power than to employ threats.

“The Ghanaian is more concerned about the development in the areas of education, health agriculture, peace and security and their general socio-economic livelihood. Anything short of these will be a travesty of the country’s enviable democratic credentials."

The Convener on behalf of the group appealed to the media to broadcast through their various platforms to reach the various security service and opinion leaders involved in maintaining peace.

“We have a generation to protect. We need to jealously guard the peace and tranquillity we have been enjoying. It is for this reason that we are voicing out the call on you to use your respective platform to sound this call on all political players and the citizenry generally to respect and abide by the rules and regulations governing the upcoming elections.”
