Akufo-Addo,NPP Gov’t,MCE And MP's Dickson Kissi Have Taken Us For Granted–Anyaa-Sowutuom Residents Cry Over Death Trap Roads
One of the poor roads in Ga Central municipality in Accra.
Thousands of residents, motorists and students in Agape, Santa-Maria, A-Lang, Kwashiebu, Antie Aku and Sowutuom in Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have taken a swipe at their Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, accusing him for not fulfilling any of his campaign promises he made to the constituents.

Consequently, residents have also not spared President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Mr Mohammed Bashiru in the hook, describing them" as the inventors of lies, fake and empty promise givers."
The irate constituents pointed out that they were disappointed in Dr. Dickson Kissi who doubles as the Vice Chairman of Committee on Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation at Parliament of Ghana for his non- performance, saying that all the access roads in constituency "became very very deplorable or death trap," affecting social and economic activities in the thirteen (13) electoral areas in the municipality.

"We think that Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi is coming to lobby for the developmental projects and programmes to help solve our problems we are facing, but we can state that Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi is even the worst non-performing MP as compared to our former MP who doubles as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mrs. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey," they noted.
They stressed that the pieces of evidence in their possession have showed that since they have voted for the MP to win the seat he hasn't fulfilled any of his promises.
“We voted massively for New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because they promised us good roads in Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency but after voting massively for the party and the MP, we the residents have been taken for granted.”
The above are some of the words of aggrieved residents of Agape, Santa-Maria, A-Lang, Kwashiebu, Antie Aku and Sowutuom who had threatened to stage naked demonstration to express their displeasure over what is a deliberate neglect of their concerns by the government, MCE and MP.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com,
the residents complained bitterly over poor road networks in the various communities within the municipality, which was adversely affecting the security but authorities appear indifferent to their plight despite recorded cases of arm robberies and murders.
"We are going to use our intended demonstration to block roads in the various communities linking to the capital, Accra in that day to express our displeasure till government addresses our concerns," the residents hinted.
According to the residents, “We are tired of assurances from our MCE, MP and government. We will fight till we win.”
They expressed worry about businesses which have been collapsed due to the deplorable road network, adding that trotro and taxi  drivers rejected Kwashiebu to Santa-Maria, A-Lang-Anyaa Market roads because of their poor state.
“Every week we record not at least two robberies because of the road network. We are calling on the government to address our grievances or face our wrath," they  threatened.
They stated that the MCE should help fix the deplorable roads in the municipality to gain the support of the residents in his administration.
According to them, the Municipality generated enough revenue but was denied development and lamented that Taxi and Commercial drivers spent all their savings on spare parts due to the bad state of the road networks within the municipality.
They explained that, criminals took advantage of the poor state of the roads and attacked residents who went about their normal duties; when the roads were in good shape the Police could respond promptly to combat any criminal activities.
They pointed out that the welfare of Unit Committee Members should be a concern to the MCE as development at the local level begins within the Unit Committee and reiterated the call to fix the roads within the Municipality.
Other residents also expressed similar sentiments to Soireenews.com and tasked the MCE and MP to move on the ground, engage strategic stakeholders, traditional leaders, traders, commercial drivers, politicians and religious members.
The residents noted that periodic engagement with the people would help the MCE to appreciate the task on the ground, mobilize the people to support him execute it, “but if he stays in the office, he will fail.”
Speaking in an interview with the Assembly Member of Santa-Maria Electoral Area, Nana Kwesi Boandwoh described the road networks in his electoral area as very bad and called on the government to fix the roads.
"I can state that all the major access roads in my area are in poor state, although the government through the Ministry Minister of Roads Highways has visited some party of the areas to promise to award the constructions of the road contracts to the contractors to fix the roads," Nana Kwesi Boandwoh told this news outlet in an interview on Monday June 26, 2023.
