Akufo-Addo And His NPP Govt Neglect Ewes And Volta Region--NDC Volta Regional Chairman Jabs
The Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress NDC, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and New New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting the people of the Volta Region (Ewes).

Mr Agbavitor expressed disappoinment that the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo has denied the volterians of their national cake which has improvised.

"We cannot ignore the painful reality of marginalization experienced by certain regions, such as the Volta Region, under the current government, the New Patriotic Party. It is important to highlight specific examples of how the ruling government has excluded and marginalized the Ewes and the Volta Region," stressed.

Mr Agbavitor expressed this sentiment while he was addressing the participants at the CSOS Dialogue on politics of exclusion held at Stevens Hotel in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.

The programme which was held under the theme; "Politics of Exclusion, a Threat to Ghana's Democratic Order," brought together revered traditional leaders, religious leaders, market women, students and citizens among others.
Speaking further, Mr Agbavitor lamented that the volterians have witnessed a neglect of crucial infrastructure developments in the Volta Region.

He bemoaned that the basic amenities such as roads, schools, hospitals, and water supply systems have been chronically underfunded and overlooked. This lack of investment hampers the region's progress, restricts economic growth, and limits opportunities for its residents.
Furthermore, he noted that the deliberate sending of military personnel to intimidate voter registration exercises in the Volta Region raises serious concerns about the suppression of democratic participation which is the bedrock of the Ghana's young democracy.
According to him, such actions undermine the principle of free and fair elections, casting a shadow on the democratic values we hold dear.
"Additionally, we cannot ignore the instances of neglected and abandoned projects in the Volta Region. Promised initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the region's inhabitants have been left incomplete or ignored, creating a sense of frustration and disillusionment among the people.
"These examples of exclusion and marginalization send a clear message that certain regions and communities are being left behind, their voices silenced, and their needs unaddressed. Such practices not only harm the individuals directly affected but also weaken our democratic fabric as a whole.
"I must emphasize that no region should be treated as a political pawn or subjected to discriminatory policies as being witnessed in recent times. Each region, including the Volta Region, deserves equal attention, support, and opportunities for growth and development," he noted.
He noted that "It is our collective responsibility, as citizens and leaders, to challenge the politics of exclusion and demand inclusivity from our government.
He added that "We must hold our leaders accountable for their actions, advocating for equitable distribution of resources and fair treatment of all region including the right to register and participate in national elections.
Following this development, he pointed out that the exclusion of the Ewes and the marginalization of the Volta Region by the ruling government are clear manifestations of the politics of exclusion.
He stressed the needed for the statskolders to institute measures to address these concerns head-on, standing in solidarity with the marginalized and demanding justice and equality for all.
"Let us work together to ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of their ethnic background or geographic location, can fully participate in our democratic process and benefit from the opportunities our nation provides," he emphasized
He further stressed that "By embracing inclusivity and rejecting exclusion, we can build a stronger, more united Ghana that upholds the principles of democracy and justice."
