Akosombo Dam Spillage Flood Saga:'Arrogant' NPP's Womtumi  In Hot Water As Akufo-Addo  Disowns Him Over Attacks On  Flood Victims In Volta Region

President Akufo-Addo's good leadership he has demonstrated to show his unwavering passion and commitment to the cause by raising thousands of Ghana cedis to support affected flood victims in the communities on the banks of the Volta over water spillage is a clear evident that the President has  absolutely disassociated himself from Chairman  attacks on the people of Volta Region.

Akosombo Dam Spillage Flood Saga:'Arrogant' NPP's Womtumi  In Hot Water As Akufo-Addo  Disowns Him Over Attacks On  Flood Victims In Volta Region
PRESIDENT Nana Addo Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appears to have completely disowned the embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi on his current verbal attacks he meted out to thousands of flood affected victims along the communities in the lower Volta basin.

The NPP firebrand in recent outburst warned the people in the Volta Region to stop calling for the NPP for help and go to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Chairman Womtumi was quoted to have stated that "You don't vote for us but expect us to help you when there's a disaster. Go to NDC for help, Don't disturb Nana Addo,"Womtumi to residents affected by the Akosombo Dam Spillage.

Chairman Womtumi has verbally insulted these persons in the Volta Region who were worst-hit by the current flood disaster following the spillage of excess water from the Akosombo and Akuse dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

But President Akufo-Addo who was United States of America (USA) before the VRA spilled the excess water from the two dams which caused flood disaster in the north, central and south districts in the region, when landed in Ghana, he quickly rushed to pay a working visit to the affected communities and commiserate with the flood victims.

During the visit to the floods affected communities along the lower Volta basin on Monday October 16, 2023,  President Akufo-Addo assured the flood victims that he would ensure that the VRA evacuate people to ensure their safety until water excess inflows recede.

"When these things happen and government acts, politics does not come in at all. I took the oath of office as president to protect every citizen of Ghana, whether they voted for me or not, once I have taken the oath, I am the president. So Togbe, I want you and your elders and the people to understand that the government is acting for all Ghanaians," he said.
"I came here because Ghanaians are having difficulties and suffering and it is my responsibility to try and help, because if it is a question of who votes for me and who does not vote me, I should not be here because you don't vote for me, that is not my concern," the President added.
However the above encouraging statements made by President to the victims has shown that he ignores Chairman Womtumi earlier rejection of the request made by the Volta dam spillage flood disaster victims to the ruling NPP government to support them.

President Akufo-Addo pledged the government's commitment to alleviate the plight of the flood victims.
He expressed sympathies for the people in relation to the tragedy that has happened.
President Akufo-Addo said the government will do everything in its power to assist everybody affected by the floods in North Tongu, South Tongu and Central Tongu, all in the Volta Region.
President Akufo-Addo explained that when the tragedy occurred, he was out of the jurisdiction in the United States of America  but has already discussed with the Chief of Staff on what has to be done in response to the tragedy.
He said the most important thing is to ensure that lives were protected and therefore the establishment of a centre in Mepe and the provision of relief items by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
He said NADMO was going to continue to provide relief items and that apart from what NADMO is doing, "we are also thinking about the future. I am aware that you are farming people, farming on the banks of the rivers and the overflow has destroyed many farms."
President Akufo-Addo added that the Ministry of Agriculture will work and decide on the nature of support to offer in the long term when the water goes away.
He said the inter-ministerial committee is working in several phases with the immediate one being relief items supplied to victims.
President Akufo-Addo's tour enabled to visit the districts severely hit by the floods occasioned by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.
The President, who returned to Ghana Sunday night after a four-day official duty in the United States, was joined by members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee set up by the government to help address the havoc caused downstream by the Akosombo Dam spillage and to help bring relief to those affected.
The tour enabled the President and the committee to assess the destruction caused by the flood and its effect on the people in the various communities.
The committee, headed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, is coordinating government's response to the spillage.
Earlier, the statement of the NPP leading member didn't sit well with the people in the Volta Region and majority of well-wishing Ghanaians who have came out publicly to condemn Chairman Womtumi.

In a video which went viral in local and social media platforms, a concerned Ghanaian was seen condemning Chairman Womtumi for politising the very serious flood disaster which has rocked many people in the communities along the lower Volta basin.

"Why can one sees this level of demand caused after the spillage of excess water from the Akosombo and Akuse Dams and have a right thinking person politicizing this pressing disaster.
"For Womtumi to say that the people of the Volta Region should suffer because they don't vote for the NPP and they should not call out to the NPP government when such serous damage has been caused by the spillage, l think it very very to say that it is very stupid. Is that where our governance system has gotten to in Ghana," the man angrily said.
He continued that " It that where the governance has gotten to, in such that depending on how a place votes that is where the government would pay attention to their needs. Is that where our politics have gotten to! Look it is not funny, some of these things were not funny. People have lost their properties. I feared some people might even died as a result of the flood disaster.
And what you can say Womtumi is that people should died because they don't vote for the NPP. Wow. Charley these people cannot continue to be in political power ooo...l mean this can be," man was heard in the video to have stated.
In an interview with some affected flooded victims about the Chairman Womtumi's outburst, they described as a nation wrecker and primitive politician whose actions were putting the government of NPP under President Akufo-Addo into shame and disgrace.
According to them, it is disgusting and shameful for the right thinking Ghanaian like Chairman Womtumi to politicize this flooding disaster in Volta region, saying the region is cosmopolitan place.
They noted that they didn't blamed Chairman Womtumi because they realized that he not a learner person to know much about the real people living in the region.
"We are telling Chairman Womtumi now that  the Volta Region is now the cosmopolitan place which is full of people from many different countries and cultures. We more Ashantis who are living in the three districts of the Volta Region which were worse hit of the flood disaster following the spillage," the schooled Chairman Womtumi.
