After a tavern, the Mandela family calls for an alcohol ban

Following the shocking murders of 21 youngsters in one such establishment, the family of late South African leader Nelson Mandela has called for the closure of all community bars and a ban on alcohol.

Inkosi Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela, who is Nelson Mandela's grandson and spoke on behalf of the Royal House of Mandela on Tuesday, stated that alcohol is "a source of great concern for parents who are justifiably worried about the scourge of sexual offenses against women including infants, toddlers, young girls, and even abogogo [elders]."

He was quoted by Times Live as adding that, "given the innocent lives lost" at the Enyobeni Tavern in East London, it was "farcical" to try to defend bars for economic reasons.
