It has emerged that 4 persons have been Injured In a violent attack at PROTOA Station in Koforidua.

One person is in a coma while three others are seriously injured in a violent attack at Progressive Transport Owners Association (Peace – PROTOA) station in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital of Ghana, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

The thugs numbering about 10 allegedly hired by the embattled Chairman of PROTOA, Yaw Adongo, violently invaded the lorry terminal to unleash violence on some disgruntled members of the association.

The disgruntled members led by the treasurer Kofi Sogah toiled over the issuance of the ticket at the lorry station after they accused the Chairman of not depositing sales into the account of the association for over a month now.

However, shortly after being taken over Thursday morning, thugs numbering over 10 stormed the lorry terminal to violently assault them resulting in the injury of four persons one of whom is reportedly in a coma at the Eastern Regional Hospital while the others were receiving treatment at the Polyclinic.

The thugs escaped before the arrival of the Police.

However, personnel of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) later arrested two members including Joshua Sogah who took over ticketing at the lorry station and handed them over to Police.

This is not the first time violence has broken out at the station.

In November 2019, there was confusion after members passed the “vote of No Confidence” in the chairman, Yaw Adongo, adding that out of the 36 members, 28 voted against him.

The members accused the Chairman of alleged intimidation, frightening members with Juju, and failure to render account having chaired the Union for twenty-One years.

Leader of the agitating members Joshua Kofi Sogah, a dismissed treasurer said with the passing of the vote of No Confidence, interim executives were put in place to organize an election to elect new executives to steer the affairs.

However, the embattled Chairman, Yaw Adongo who occupied the position for the past 21 years refused to leave after he described allegations against him as as blatant falsehood stating he is still the Chairman of the union.

The New Juaben South Municipal Security Council failed to resolve the impasse.
