Britain’s Adam Peaty has picked up his first gold medal for Team GB at the Tokyo games after breezing through the 100m breaststroke.

An emotional Peaty revealed his tears at bagging another Olympic gold as he thought of his young family back home.

Peaty and girlfriend Eirianedd welcomed son George into the world at the end of the last year and Peaty reckons things could have been different had the Games been pushed back another year.

The British superstar became the first swimmer from these shores to defend an Olympic title, winning the 100m breaststroke.

“I am just so relieved. If it was delayed another one, I don't know. Especially with George now, I obviously want to get on with my life but again there is a cost to everything.

“Being a father, all that emotional energy I just can't think straight of how much I've done it for them.

“I can look him in the eye and say all that time I had to go training and leave him, and all that time I had to leave her in difficult situations, it's all been worth it, and you know I love them so much,” Adam said.

Team GB have triumphed in both men's rugby sevens and hockey.

Meanwhile, Alex Yee has picked up the silver in the triathlon at the age of 23 after being edged out by outstanding Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt.
