Sky Sports Pundit, Paul Merson says Manchester United should make Harry Kane their sole target in the transfer window and neglect highly valued Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have been linked with Sancho for some time now with the player having agreed on personal terms with United. Dortmund are said to be holding out for at least £90million but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are not willing to spend much which has stalled the move.

Kane scored 18 goals in the just-ended season behind his return from a six-month halt due to injury.

The former professional footballer and manager believe that acquiring the Spurs frontman at the price value of Sancho and two other center halves, as a cover for Harry Maguire will intensify their competitiveness in next season’s premier league and European campaign.

"I don’t think they need Jadon Sancho at £90m or £100m - they need another centre half, in fact they probably need two centre halves as cover for Harry Maguire,” he said.

"Maybe they need a center-forward, but I don’t think you win the league with Anthony Martial playing up front – even though he’s been brilliant and scored goals. But where are you getting a center forward from? Every club in the world wants one.

"If they have the money, I’d go £120m for Harry Kane. If they get him and centre half, they’d be massive players in the Premier League next season."

Merson praised inform Mason Greenwood and predicted that he is a special asset for the Red Devils if he keeps working hard.

"I’ve been so impressed with Mason Greenwood. He’s been on a bit of trial since lockdown, we get great reviews of him in the reserves and youth team, and he’s come in and produced. I see this lad going on to be something special.”
