You're borrowing money from the IMF while urging Africans to quit begging - Ex-Senator of Nigeria criticizes Akufo-Addo

Shehu Sani, a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has criticized President Nana Addo for urging African leaders to cease pleading for aid.

Ghanaians and other nationals have criticized President Nana Addo for his most recent remarks to African leaders. Following his comment, he has been called a hypocrite by numerous individuals.

A few hours after the IMF gave Ghana a $3 billion loan, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged African leaders to stop crying for help and start investing their money in the continent. He asserted that this is what will elevate the continent's standing.

He chided his fellow leaders, saying, "If we stop being beggars and spend African money inside the continent, Africa will not need to ask for respect from anyone." “

We'll be treated with the respect we merit. Respect will come if we make it prosperous in the way it ought to be.

"Africans are tougher outside of Africa than inside. We must keep in mind that there is no such thing as Nigeria, Ghana, or Kenya to the outside world; we are just Africans. We are all responsible for each other's fate as individuals.

It seems the comment made by President Nana Addo did not sit well with the former senator of Nigeria, Shehu Sani. He took to his Twitter and wrote;

“Ghana’s President is collecting IMF loan with the right hand and using the left hand to warn African Governments against begging the west for money,” the tweet read.
