Jurgen Klopp has spoken that a comeback is possible against Real Madrid only if his Liverpool side plays better football at home on Wednesday and take their chances regardless of what they had against Barcelona two season ago.

The Premier League defending Champions will host Los Blancos on Wednesday night at Anfield following their 3-1 advantage recorded last week, kind courtesy of Vinicius Junior’s brace and Asensio’s goal.

The Reds were down 3-0 against Barcelona at the Camp Nou and were successful in overturning the scoreline to score 4-0 against Ernesto Valverde’s side to be in the finals at the Wanda Metropolitano and win the trophy two seasons ago.

Wednesday's match also takes place exactly five years to the day since they beat Klopp's former side Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League quarter-final, having been 4-2 down on aggregate with 24 minutes to go and the Germans having scored three away goals at Anfield.

Klopp told on Tuesday during his pre-match proceeding that his side must only live up to the required expectation if they want to be in the semi-finals.

“You cannot take it for granted,” said the Reds boss quoted by talkSPORTS.

“You don't get a comeback because you had one in the past.

“You only have a chance if you play really good football in the present. The situation is clear. That's why this competition is so interesting.

“When you're 3-1 down, it looks like you're already out. We will give it a try. I think that's the job we have to do and that's exactly how we will go for it.

“The result is a problem. One extra problem is that the stadium is empty.”
