World Environment Day celebrated in Techiman with a move to safeguard Tano River

The Environmental Protection Agency in the Bono East Region in collaboration with Ghana Nuts Limited has yesterday observed the 2022 World Environment Day.

The short but colorful event which was held at Hansa Chief's Palace was attended by Nananom, Bono East regional Minister who was represented by the Chief Director, the Clergy, and Students from some selected schools in the Municipality.

The national theme for this year's celebration was "Only one Earth and the local theme for the celebration was "Save the Tano River, secure our future followed by a Tree planting exercise along the Tano River at Hansa.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Fentemprem Nifahene of Techiman who represented the Omanhene of Techiman as Chairman elaborated on the need to protect our river bodies.

For his part, the Bono East Regional Director of Environmental Protection Agency Mr. Anthony Duah said it’s the responsibility of every Ghanaian to protect our environment, especially the River bodies for the future of our nation.

Finally, MCE for Techiman Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko informed the gathering of the efforts made by the Assembly to check environmental degradation.
