We're Suffering From Sylvester Tetteh's MP Leadership-Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom Residents Cry Out
Honourable Sylvester Matthew Tetteh
The age-old inconveniences, risks, and fatal road accident on the deplorable Red Top and Dunkonah-Bortianor roads in the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro constituency under the Ga South Municipal District in the Greater Accra had forced residents to vent their anger at the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Honourable Sylvester Matthew Tetteh and Ga South South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Joseph Nyarni Stephen.

The aggrieved residents stressed that they were unhappy about the two government officials because they failed to lobby for the government to fix the stretch of these roads, which are fast becoming a death trap for users of the roads.
According to road users, accidents continue to occur on the stretch because of their deplorable nature.

"We are not ready to vote for Sylvester Matthew Tetteh to win the seat in the 2024 general election because of the bad leadership that our current MP is delivering to us. Mr Sylvester Matthew Tetteh must go now.

"...Mr Sylvester Matthew Tetteh has taken us for granted because he has failed to lobby for the development to be brought to Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom. He must go for another serious MP to come and rescue from our problems," the constituents told Soireenews.com.

According to them, the current MP has done a little to lobby to bring the needed social and infrastructural intervention projects and programmes to the constituency since he represented them in parliament.

They described him as a poor performing MP and further accused him for disrespecting the electorates.
The residents complained bitterly about  and deplorable state of many roads in their communities without efforts from the MP; in spite of his campaign promises prior to the 2020 general election.

However, the Soireenews.com recent visit to the constituency which is under Ga-South revealed very horrible road networks, with scary gutters, akin to manholes.
The major roads in New Bortianor around the Sempe Mantse (Otintor residence), portions of Kasoa tollbooth to Tuba, Akplaku to Kokrobitey, Agro-farms and its environs among others, were in terrible state.

At some areas, portions of roads were covered with death trap potholes as well as sands from the top of the hills when it rains; which virtually block the roads.
The situation is so worse that, recently-constructed tarred roads have also developed potholes and competing with non-tarred ones with no action from the authorities.
These developments have left motorists and commuters struggling daily to access the road for some time now. Residents complained bitterly to the Soireenews.com they spent hours to get vehicle to their destinations.
According to some taxi and other commercial drivers, the little income they make is spent on buying spare parts for their vehicles, leaving them unable to feed their families, let alone, render agreed account to car owners.
Residents say, unlike in some jurisdiction where there is teamwork between the MP and local authorities at District and municipal assemblies to resolve some problems, same cannot be said at Ga-South.

They mentioned instances where the rains force sand from top of the hills to block the roads without instant action by leaders to get road grader and construction machines to fix the problem.
They cited for example, a section of the Tuba Road around Stockwell Montessori School which is in a messy state and abandoned, following recent downpour.
But on the lips of many in the constituency, there’s no different between the incumbent MP and his predecessors in terms performance, particularly in the area of finding solution to the road networks.

According to them, the six-kilometre road that stretches from the West Hills Mall Junction to Dunkonah has been left unattended to for many years, with it becoming increasingly impassable.
The residents and road users expressed their displeasure about the terrible nature of the road.
The residents in Red Top community at Dunkonah, said the road had been in that bad state for the past 20 years that he had lived in the area.
“The road, due to its rocky and dusty nature, poses health risks to us because we have our shops at the roadside and suffer the daily plight of inhaling dust.
“When I go to town to buy materials, I end up paying more for transportation because the drivers are always hesitant when you tell them you are going to Red Top. You either pay more or they leave you to your fate,” Emmanuel Mensah said.
Mr Mensah, who is taxi cab driver mentioned that the residents had complained many times to authorities but to no avail.
“Since they have deliberately decided to deceive us all the time, the only option we have now is to stage a demonstration, and that is in the offing,” they told the journalist.
