Thousands of residents living in Coaltar in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region led by their chief, Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll are up in arms against the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo/Dr Alhaji Bawumia Mahamadu administration over the litany of unfulfilled campaign promises made to the people of Coaltar.

“We are now getting tired of empty promises. anytime we meet and talk about the development of the Coaltar, the promises are repeated…always promises, repetition of promises.

"We have now realized that the  promises coming from the President and his appointees are too much. Every now and then there is one promise or the other,” the angry Chief of Coaltar, Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll on behalf of residents expressed these sentiments. The chief expressed anger over New Patriotic Patty (NPP) government’s failure to fix the  deplorable roads in Coaltar enclave

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll said they have had enough of playing on deplorable roads.

According to the chief, major road networks connecting to the capital of the district, Nsawam, Suhum, and Adeiso, have been in bad shape for many years.

"Our area is called Coaltar but for over 40 years now they haven't seen any Coaltar in their communities," the chief lamented.

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll is calling on the government to intervene and do the needful to alleviate the people from their situation.

Speaking to Soireenews.com in an installation six chiefs in the Coaltar Craboa area, Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll, implored the new chiefs to support the development of their people.

The newly chiefs installed are Nana Yaa Asantewaa - Nkosohemaa, Kofi Owusu- Sanahene, Kofi Larbi- Osiahene Mawerehemaa and W.H. Arrington- Mawerehene

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu Il explained that they often have to alight and walk the rest of their journey due to the nature of their poor roads.
"They are leaders who don’t think of themselves, they only come to their mind when they need their votes and forget them after voting for them. Our road has been left unattended for so long and they need help from the Ayensuano District," the chief stressed.

He added that all the roads in Ayensuano District and the Coaltar Craboa area have become death traps and potholes and the government must fix the roads now.
Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll is making a fervent call on the government and District Chief Executive to fix their roads for them before it is too late.

Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu ll added that President Akuffo Addo is a disgrace to himself and let the people of the Eastern Region suffer without any developmental projects, especially in the Coaltar Craboa area.
The Ayensuano residents also added their voices which they said are suffering due to the bad nature of their roads. Pregnant Women are dying, businesses are collapsing, no jobs in the area.

Car owners indicated that they spend more on fuel and car maintenance due to poor road networks. However, the woes of the drivers have worsened during the rainy season.

"Anytime drivers from Nsawam to Coaltar and going back home with so many issues with their car. If it's not their tyre, it will be the shock absorber," they complained.
Obaahemaa Afua Asiedua advised the new chiefs to comport themselves well and should show respect to themselves and show good leadership to the people of the Coaltar Craboa area.
