Yaw Sarpong is impressed with the number of recording studios that are available now.

According to him, back in the day, there used to be only two studios; one in Accra and one in Kumasi.

It was therefore difficult for anyone to just record anything and put it In mainstream because the effort needed to be put into recording was much more back in the day.

Now, it is easier to record because there are recording studios easily accessible everywhere since the introduction of technology and sophisticated machines.

The gospel veteran, who has been on the music scene for over 40 years with 26 albums to his name, admitted that getting a studio to record tracks was the major challenge of every artist back in the day.

Even if an artist had written a beautiful song, it would still be difficult to get a studio to record.

“Before, to get someone to record a single track was not that easy. This is because there were no studios around, there was just one in Accra and one in Kumasi so it’s very difficult to record. Today, the story is different. We have a lot of studios in houses so it’s not like before,”

This he said while speaking on the E Vibes show.

The lead singer of the Asomafo Band started his career with the Methodist singing group at Asuofua in the Ashanti Region during his early stage in life where he was discovered by one Medical Doctor who also wanted to form a music group in 1971.

He recorded his first album in 1981 titled Adesrede (Request) and his second album between 1983 and 1984.
