A business accused Mr. Kingston in February of underpaying for a massive TV and sound system.

According to US media, he was arrested at southern California's Fort Irwin on charges of theft and fraud after a Florida warrant was obtained, said Florida police.

Mr. Kingston stated that his attorneys were "handling everything" in a previous social media post. In February court filings, the singer, whose official name is Kisean Anderson, was listed as residing at a house near Fort Lauderdale that was the object of a previous Florida police raid.

According to US media, including CBS News, a partner of the BBC, the woman arrested was Mr. Kingston's mother. The Broward County Sheriff's Office confirmed the raid to the BBC, stating that they executed search and arrest warrants at the address.

"An adult female, Janice Turner, 2/16/1963, was taken into custody on numerous charges of theft and fraud as a result of the investigation. This investigation is active and ongoing."

Following that, it was alleged that officers were observed removing items from the residence. Whether the arrests were related to the company's claims was not immediately apparent.

According to the AP news agency, the couple's attorney accepted the accusations made against them and stated, "We look forward to addressing these in court and are confident of a successful resolution."

Ver Ver Entertainment asserts in court filings obtained by the BBC that Mr. Kingston reached out to the business on social media in September 2023 with the intention of buying a "232-inch Colossal TV, coupled with a robust sound system".

According to the corporation, Mr. Kingston "induced" the company to install the devices with "as small a downpayment as possible" by offering "numerous false representations," one of which was that he would collaborate with Justin Bieber on corporate promotional films.

The business claims that after the installation, Mr. Kingston neglected to pay the outstanding balance and was sued for fraud and breach of contract.

According to a lawyer for Ver Ver Entertainment, the firm hopes to get it back from the house after the police raid, according to Miami's Local 10 news.

"We know that our property is inside this house right here, so as soon as the raid takes place, we are going to have a crew of people in there to reassemble it and take it back to its rightful owner."

Hit songs including "Beautiful Girls," "Fire Burning," and "Eenie Meenie with Justin Bieber" are well-known for 34-year-old Mr. Kingston.
