Revive local Worship songs - Evangelist Yidana
Evangelist Solomon Yidana

Evangelist Solomon Yidana has pointed out the importance of going back to roots when it comes to music.

The man who uses his vocal skills to bring the gospel to Ghanaians and the world at large has pointed out the importance of bringing back old Northern-regional songs and making them popular again in Ghana.

He stated his intentions to champion the cause himself, as the old local songs have a connection to the listener unlike any other claiming that it is needful to elevate the old northern songs and present them to the current generation because of how easily the lyrics can be understood.

He noted that it is the understanding of lyrics in songs combined with the sweet melody that connects people with God.

"Our local songs carry a strong weight in meaning and one could derive a verse in the bible out of a short song,” he revealed his intentions in an interview journalist Nii Arday Ankrah.

He reiterated the use of local worship songs as they can penetrate the heart of a worshipper since the song is in his own dialect especially when compared to the foreign songs where worshippers might find it difficult to enjoy anything else but the melody.

He indicated that when the Assemblies of God Missionaries came to Ghana, they helped in converting the local gospels into hymnals, which made it easy for public to understand. The first black principal of the Assemblies of God Bible School, Rev. P.D Yamusah ensured that these converted hymnals were sung by the training pastors.
