Rakitic reunites with Sevilla

Ivan Rakitic has rejoined Sevilla after successful medicals yesterday with the Europa League winners.

The Croatian signed out of Barcelona in a deal worth 10.5 million euros – 1.5m cash plus 9m in variables.

 

 

“FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Rakitic for his commitment and dedication and wishes him good luck and success in the future,” the club said in a statement.

The 32-year-old is the first player to depart from Camp Nou following the arrival of Ronald Koeman after been made aware that he is no longer considered as part of the team.

 “This Wednesday, September 2, starting at 11.00 am CEST, the farewell ceremony and subsequent telematic press conference of the player will take place,” it added.

Other members expected to leave ahead of the upcoming season is Luis Suarez who is in talks with Juventus following the exit of Gonzalo Higuain.

Rakitic played a great role for the Andalusian team from 2011-2014 before his move to Camp Nou where he featured in 310 games and scored 35 goals for Barca during his six years with the Spanish giants.

He won four league titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup with Barca.
