Okyeame Kwame: Disagree with my opinions but don’t tell me ‘my mother’

Rapper Okyeame Kwame, from Ghana, has been causing quite a stir in recent weeks with his statements and unconventional viewpoints on marriage, religion, nature, and climate change.

Okyeame Kwame: Disagree with my opinions but don’t tell me ‘my mother’

It's interesting to note that although the Made in Ghana musician claims that his recent "rantings" are a result of his passion for Ghana and pan-Africanism and that he does not mind if people disagree with him on issues, he is worried about those who intentionally verbally abuse him and take advantage of these situations to disparage his reputation.

Recently, Okyeame Kwame—who is now promoting his most recent single, Insha Allah—spoke with Graphic Showbiz. He stated that while Ghanaians are not opposed to his ideas, it is inappropriate for opponents to use derogatory language and name-calling rather than challenging the core of his argument."I don't believe Ghanaians are against my opinions. I don't mind if others disagree with my opinions in the same way that I don't agree with other people's ideas.

"What bothers me is when someone makes an argument, and instead of responding with a counterargument or proving the main point, you just call names and say things like, 'Look at your forehead, I'm a fool.'"

I don't understand it when someone says, "Let's not eat turtles because they have a specific role they play in the sea and they keep the world safe," and your best response is, " your mother."

It narrows the conversation and moves it to a place where I can no longer make my well-founded arguments. For example, I have been criticized for believing that beating and dehumanizing homosexuals in public is inhumane.

"Please don't come and insult me, my mother, or my family; if you have any contrary opinions, just mention them," he said to Graphic Showbiz.
