Northern Nigeria is under curfew after 34 people were killed in an attack.

Thirty-four individuals, including two soldiers, have been killed in northwest Nigeria’s Kaduna state.

The incident, which took place on Sunday, was carried out by heavily armed criminal gangs known locally as bandits.

According to reports, assailants attacked at least four locations in the state on Sunday, destroying more than 200 homes and setting fire to businesses.

A woman has yet to be found.

The state government of Kaduna has implemented a 24-hour curfew.

The attack took place at the same time as a raid in Zamfara state, which left 16 people dead.

The criminal groups were formally branded terrorists by the authorities in January.

Amnesty International has condemned the Kaduna attack and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice by the government.
