Never ever borrow money to pay for your wedding, advises counselor Adumatta

A well-known counselor named Kwaku Adumatta has advised those who wish to wed not to borrow money to pay for their wedding.

He claims that since marriage already requires a lot of work, adding the burden of debt repayment will only make matters worse for the pair.

It's not the finest way to start your lives, Kwaku Adumatta stated in an interview with Kwabena Boafo on Happy 98.9FM's "Nsem Pii" show.

When will you pay off the debts so that you can continue living your life and growing as people? What if kids are involved as well? It doesn't make sense to begin a life with debts because the expenses will continue to rise. If the marriage is supported by debt, it won't last.

Unfortunately, he said, a lot of young people are making that error. They do whatever, even taking out loans, to appease others and the wider community.

They must realize that marriage is not a sport to be competed in. They continue to raise expectations of others when it shouldn't be the case, it seems, he said.

He asserted that married individuals must make the most of what they have because marriage is difficult and demanding.

"The wedding is not what matters. People need to be aware of this and get ready for the true marriage, which happens after the wedding.

People should refrain from starting their lives with debts because it causes a lot of difficulty and dissatisfaction in marriages.
