Liverpool are edging closer in their attempts to sign Ismaila Sarr.

The Watford star has asked to leave his club amid longstanding interest from Anfield.

The Reds have received a major boost in their attempts to prise Sarr away from Watford this summer.

Jurgen Klopp side is looking to bolster their attack this summer despite the impressive form of Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota.

Both were on the scoresheet as Liverpool beat Norwich, as was Roberto Firmino, while Sadio Mane is also among the best attackers in the Premier League.

The Senegal International has told the Hornets that he wants to leave amid interest from Jurgen Klopp.

But Klopp is eyeing reinforcements and has already looked to sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham this summer.

And the Reds are ready to reignite their bid to land Sarr this year as well having been knocked back by Watford over a year ago.

Sarr was in fine form at the weekend as Watford returned to the Premier League when they took on Aston Villa.

He gave Matt Targett a torrid afternoon as he scored one and got an assist - though it will not be registered as one as Emmanuel Dennis needed two shots before it went in as Watford won 3-2.

With many tipping the Hornets to go straight down again, keeping hold of their main attacker will prove pivotal but his directness in attack is what Liverpool are intrigued by.

However, much will depend on the futures of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri, with the Anfield outfit already having to lower their asking price for the latter as Lyon close in on a move.
