Lamasheigu Police Shooting: One Person Dies From Gunshot Wounds

A Junior High School graduate identified as Abdul Hakim has died at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound in yesterday's police shooting at Lamasheigu, a suburb of Tamale.

The deceased and other persons got injured during the clash between the angry youth of Lamashegu and the Police yesterday Sunday.

The late Abdul Hakim was allegedly hit by a stray bullet, allegedly fired by the police.

He was one of at least four persons who sustained varying degrees of injury after angry youth of the area clashed with the police for shooting a driver at the Lamshegu Chief Palace, Sunday afternoon.

The police allegedly stopped an unregistered vehicle but the driver refused to stop resulting in the police chasing the vehicle to the Lamasheigu Naa Ziblim palace.

The remaining three persons at the time of report today Monday are still receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
