Kwabre East Municipal hands over five Vehicles to Schools and Educational Directorate

The Kwabre East Municipal have donated five Toyota Pickup trucks to four Senior High Schools (SHS) and the Educational Directorate on Monday, November 23, 2020.

The vehicles sponsored by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) were further handed out by the Acting Educational Director of the Kwabre East, Mrs Dora Asare to representatives of Gyaama Pensan SHSAdanwomase SHS, Kofi Agyei SHSAntoa SHS and the Educational Directorate of the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Osei Assibey Bonsu addressed on the positive outcomes of transportation to the day to day running of schools asserting that, it will encourage the exchange of ideas through participating in meetings and engagement in programs necessary for the growth of the school by heads and staff.

“We know the role that transportation plays in whatever we do as people. If you run an institution without a means of transport, the work becomes challenging and stressful which retards growth of schools, and it is, for this reason, His Excellency, Nana Akufo Addo thought it wise to give cars to the various schools to enable them to run efficiently,” the MCE said.

He cautioned that the purpose for the provision of the vehicles must not be taken advantage of but should be of great assistance to the progress of the various Senior High Schools.

Honourable Osei Assibey Bonsu also reminded the Directorate to uphold maintenance culture on the cars to keep them functioning for longer periods of time.

“The cars are for official duties only and if for a reason anything happens, alert the director of education before using it for private duties,” he advised.

“When it is due for maintenance, make sure to service it well otherwise within a short period, we’ll have problems with them.”

The Acting Educational Director, Mrs Dora Asante appreciated the asset and asserted that administering schools without vehicles is a great challenge, therefore, the Ministry’s presentation will enable the heads to work hard to support education in the Municipal and Ghana as a whole.

“On behalf of the directorate, I thank the MCE and the Minister of education, Honorable Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo for what they have done,” she said.

“Four schools have benefitted from the sharing of cars and in fact, the vehicles have come at the right time in the sense that none of the schools owes a vehicle which makes the day to day running of the school tough. With this, the headmasters will continue to work to the benefit of the schools,” she added.

When asked on how to keep the car in shape all time, she disclosed that “Ghanaians have a challenge with maintenance culture and this my advice to the headmasters in charge of the cars in the four schools is to guide drivers to be protective because if they steer carelessly and there is a crash, we will force them to pay.”

Mrs Stella Naa Enyo of the Gyaama Pensan SHS on behalf of the four schools showed gratitude to the MCE, the Education Directorate and government.
