Fletcher Narh has accused Joe Mettle of not giving him enough credit for a song he took from him even though Joe Mettle asked for permission to take the song.

The Ghanaian gospel artiste based in the United States of America recalled how Joe Mettle asked him if he could sample his song Meyi Waye” 15 years ago.

Initially, he told Joe Mettle to wait while he asked prayed about the request.

Fletcher noted that he had to ask God for permission because it was God who gave him the song in the first place.

Only for Joe Mettle to go ahead and release the song without hearing back or going through the necessary copyright issues.

“I sang Meyi W’aye about 15 years ago. I’m the only one that understands the history behind the song and how God gave the song. But you know how Ghanaians behave, people do not do the right thing.”

He called me years ago and told me he had done all the research and he loves the song and that he wanted to do [sample] it. I said ‘that’s okay.

I have a lot of songs but we have to do it the right way’. He even wanted to know how much I was going to charge for it. I need to pray about it and all that but by the time I realised, he had released it,”

He mentioned that Joe Mettle started well by asking him for permission, but did not complete the process by telling the world where he got the song from.

This, he says, is what hurts the most; that a person of Joe Mettle's status would do such a thing.

“I believe that the truth is the truth and nothing can outlive the truth. I was in America when people sent me videos and it was exciting but I feel that I deserved some credit,” he concluded
