Zinedine Zidane couldn't hide his delight after Real Madrid secured the LaLiga Santander with victory over Villarreal.

The Frenchman prioritized a league title over anything else at the start of the campaign and has seen his objective fulfilled.

"It's a tremendous feeling because what the players have done is impressive," Zidane said at full time.

"I have no words for how I'm feeling.

"The Champions League is the Champions League, but this league title makes me happier because LaLiga is amazing."

Although Zidane recognized his joy at clinching the title, he lauded his players with all the credit.

"We were the best because we got the most points, that's it," he said.

"For me, it's one of my best days a professional.

"The players are the ones who fight.

"It's true that I have my role, but they are the ones that believe.

"It's a team of impressive characters and when I see them so happy, well it makes me very happy.

"Even those who have played less have been committed, right up until those who contribute the least to the team."

As the players celebrated at an empty Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, Zidane admitted the situation was odd.

"It's strange for everyone," he continued.

"We'd have liked to be with our fans at Cibeles, but we can't.

"I'm sure they're happy at home.

"The fans are happy to watch the team win and we've done it for them."
