In most recent anti-coup event, a protester was slain

According to doctors in Sudan, a protester was shot and killed by security agents at the most recent rally against the military coup last year.

The Central Committee of Sudan Doctors, a pro-democracy group, reported the demonstrator died after being shot in the chest and stomach during a rally in Omdurman, Khartoum's twin city.

Since the military takeover in October, more than 100 people have been killed in such gatherings, according to the committee.

Sudan has sunk deeper into upheaval since then, with soaring prices, food shortages, and ethnic confrontations.

The UN, the African Union, and the Igad regional bloc have all attempted to arrange discussions to end the issue.
