The Assembly Woman Hopeful for Anyaa East Electoral Area in the Ga Central municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Madam Celestina Efua Selby, has given assurance to the residents to ensure a healthy environment in the area if she becomes Assembly member in the area.
According to her, she would work hard to promote environmental health of the residents staying in Anyaa East Electoral Area,saying that every person has the same right to an environment which is good and healthy.”
Madam Selby was speaking to Soireenews. com when she organized a massive clean up exercise, aimed at keeping the environment clean and also advocate for cleanliness among residents to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
Madam Celestina together with the residents of the area with the support of the Ga-Central Municipal Assembly intended to clean and desilte gutters around Anyaa Market Area, where indiscriminate dumping of waste has choked the gutters with filth and sand.
Speaking to the Assembly woman Hopeful who engaged the media after the exercise, she stressed that, her major concern was to help improve the sanitary condition in the area.
She added that cleaning of the area should be a collective effort and must not be left in the hands of only the Municipal Assembly.
She assured that she will continue to initiate a number of sensitisation activities in the Area including regular clean-up exercises to create enough public awareness about the need to keep the environment clean at all times.
She further expressed worry of the non-functioning of Anyaa Terminal lorry station.
She gave assurance that if given the nod of holding the office as Assembly woman for Anyaa East Electoral Area, she will use everything possible within her power to lobby for the lorry station to be effective for operation in order for the market to expand.
Madam Selby advised residents of the Anyaa East Electoral Area to cultivate a habit of keeping their environment clean.
She pointed out that it is her hope to assist the area and continue to embark on clean up exercises on the need to keep the environment clean.
