How Nollywood Has Tainted Gospel Impartation

The Nigerian Movie industry was God's tool for winning souls unto Himself. What happened when 'Nollywood' was attained?

How Nollywood Has Tainted Gospel Impartation

Everything changed when the industry gained the name Nollywood, an imitation of the American Movie industry, which has assassinated the cultural values and denied the soul of merits.

The message was altered and nudity became the front line of projects allowed into the homes of families. Majority of characters involved in transforming watchers were swallowed with money to buzz in nudes, a message to the world that after all, they were not who they thought to be.

But what happened to the rich Nigerian movie industry, which took the world by storm through the innovation of rich Christian movies that led millions of isolated souls to Christ?  What happened to the industry highly rated as one of the strongest militants, which opposed the forces of darkness and liberated men to know the glorious light of Christ?

Again, what happened to the cultural representation? Have things gone so bad that the only flag of Hope that led men to the kindness of God for repentance has now bowed to the forces of darkness teaching men what they preached against and leading souls to destruction?

'Nollywood' was termed by Japanese Canadian journalist Norimitsu Onishi of the New York Times to reflect the image created by India’s Bollywood and America’s Hollywood.

The name was widely accepted by Nigerians and the rest of the world, which led to Ghana coining its industry as Ghallywood, an act of imitation and trade of virtues. Since Nigeria’s industry attained the name in 2002, 80 per cent of movies produced has been to compete for international honours. They preferred satisfying the demands of the people, throwing away the worthy spread of the Gospel of Christ into sustaining the desires of the flesh for gratification.

Is that not what we see on our screens today? Stories of sexual indulgence, the LGBT (Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) advertisement into normalcy, mending broken hearts without the mind of God, promoting sexual promiscuity, indulging adultery, packaging the worse and dumping moral ethics of the society.

Hollywood has never been content with Christian content. They have made Christ-faith their real enemy because its growth is a threat to their very existence hence their offensive productions that harness the human mind. The motive is to control the thinking faculty of man against the will of God. If indeed, the mind controls the body; their greatest intent is against the decent approach of men towards Jesus Christ.

Africa is one continent known for its dedication to the Christian faith. We sleep, eat, drink, and enjoy the very person of our Lord Jesus. That is commitment and dedication. Due to the high illiteracy rate on the continent, stats reveal that almost 40 per cent of converts embraced the Christian faith through missionary crusades where movies of the Gospel were shown to distinct a clear picture of the powers of darkness and the glorious Light of Christ.

From 1990 onwards, the majority of Crusades organized by men of God to liberate men employed Nigerian Christian movies – Karishika played a key role in the Jesus Campaigns, as many souls gave their lives to Christ following the watch hour.

Hundreds of people trooped to cinemas to watch Christian movies that always ended with the name of Jesus lifted high. Families invested in cassette decks to entertain decency in their homes through investing in Nigerian movies, which were the appetite of the souls and galvanized one's faith in Christ through a well-narrated story on television where God conquered situations at the end of the enemy's mess.

Television stations then employed such which restricted the corruption rate of the mind. The Nigerian genre was the hope of the world affecting fellow neighbouring countries and crossing borders to nurture souls. It was a great fulfilment of the Great Commission mandated by Jesus Christ on his ascension. Although the technology was limited, yet the pace at which these movies travelled was very high, as neighbours preferred sharing their television to fellows in the name of seeking for their well being through the Gospel.

One day, everything changed. Productions ceased and most of the characters who were loved by their ambassadorial role in Christ through acting drastically malfunctioned – became slayers and begun inflicting pain on souls.

How? Through the impact on the acceptance of Nollywood as the industry's embodiment.

note; A name is the symbol of an earthly mission. The name a person bears determine his ability in life and his or her impact on planet earth.

Spirits pick up names ones they attain a mission on earth. It’s like possessing an authorization code, without it, access to life is denied and with it, your why and how will always be in front of you.

Why do you think God changed Abram, Sarai, Saul, Jabez, and a few people’s identities in the Bible? He altered their names to suit the purpose He created them for which along the line was tampered due to family idolatry appreciation.

If God so did it, then it means there is the flip side of the coin.

Why do you think Nebuchadnezzar would convert Daniel to Belteshazzar, Hananiah to Shadrach, Mishael to Meshach, and Azariah to Abednego? This was to achieve his intent at their arrival. A name like Israel was given unto the Jews to fulfil a specific task. It is a demonstration of God’s strength among His people hence no army can wipe their very existence.

Holly-wood was derived when the family resided as inhabitants at the hollow-way (a practice without real significance or value) named their neighbourhood, which became synonymous with the glamour, money, and power of the entertainment industry. (Don’t forget that the slang for wood is the erection of the manhood)

The name Hollywood was not granted by a Nigerian or even an African but a Japanese Canadian who seems to have not much of a clue about the Nigerian culture and its meaningful impact to the African youth. The name was just accepted by authorities and it became the hymn of the third greatest movie industry in the world.

Although life imparting movies are been produced in the African country yet they are overshadowed by the overwhelming influence of the lascivious pictures loved and cherished by the world today.

The monetization of YouTube and Facebook contents has led to the deviation of many from God’s original focus as people love to attain much watch hour and page likes which intensify payments than working for God.

The industry which ones was a billboard, directing men towards the Liberator of life now boasts of crossing international borders with sensual storylines that authorize sin and emboldens sex.

What used to be the fruit of life is now trapping and persecuting lives from its purpose.

The end is indeed near and you must protect the heritage you once received. The world will never be the same.
